Looking for a preschool for deaf or hard-of-hearing children that offers more than a typical early learning program?
Spokane HOPE’s preschool is the only Listening & Spoken Language (LSL) program in Eastern Washington for children to build the listening, speech, and literacy skills needed for kindergarten and beyond.
Spokane HOPE’s preschool is designed exclusively for children whose primary disability is hearing loss and whose families want them to develop listening and spoken language.
Our child-centered classrooms feature a 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio and a specialized team—including a certified Teacher of the Deaf, Speech-Language Pathologist, and music educator—all trained in Listening and Spoken Language strategies.
With curriculum aligned to Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines, our graduates step into kindergarten confident, capable, and ready to learn alongside hearing peers.
“Our daughter was diagnosed late with hearing loss and we felt completely lost. Spokane HOPE stepped in right away. Their expert teachers Amy, Alex, Jared, Ancel and speech therapists Caitlin and Rachel acted as a bridge between us and the audiologists, holding our hand and creating a plan that actually made sense. If you’re scared and overwhelmed, Spokane HOPE will guide your family every step of the way—just like they did for us. We couldn't have done it without them!!”

HOPE’s Preschool is designed exclusively for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our classrooms combine the joy of preschool with evidenced-based, Listening and Spoken Language strategies you won’t find in a typical early learning program.

We do daily checks to ensure that hearing technology is functioning correctly and have a classroom environment optimized for auditory access to maximize hearing and learning.

Our trained Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) Teachers of the Deaf give individualized attention and focus on hands-on activities to build vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence.

Our curriculum prepares students to enter their neighborhood kindergarten classrooms alongside hearing peers, using discovery units, STEM, and dramatic play to build strong language skills.
95% of our DHH preschool graduates enter mainstream kindergarten confident, capable, and ready to learn alongside their hearing peers.
“This is a wonderful little non profit school that does an amazing job at delivering on their promise to help children learn to use their cochlear implants. They teach these children to be able to function as well as any other hearing child as they develop. It is a truly endearing environment that focuses completely on the children's learning and development. I can't say enough good things about what I've seen here!”
